Traumatic Distress

Traumatic Distress

After witnessing or experiencing a life-threatening event (such as…)you may be impacted by the experience (etc. physical assault, sexual abuse, war trauma, car accident) and have intense anxiety.

You may avoid places, or thoughts that remind you of the event. You may feel unsafe, and have reoccurring thoughts or images related to the events. At times it may feel that you are reliving aspects of the trauma. The symptoms described are refereed to as PTSD.

Fortunately, there are treatments that can help. I utilize Prolonged Exposure therapy, which research heavily supports.
